History of Chhay Roung,Trapeang Roung Eco Tourism site, Koh Kong district, Koh Kong province

(Written by Ty Theavy)
This rapid is called Chhay Roung. Chhay means Rapid in the Khmer language. Roung is the cave where the rapid is. Around here there are a lot of creepers growing. A local villager always comes to collect the rattan and turmeric vine here.
This place used to have fierce tigers and crocodiles.  There is a local story about the tigers. In 1942, 3 brothers found the creepers here. While they slept in the cave, a tiger came to kill the one who slept in middle, then a crocodile in the rapid was also killed by that tiger. The crocodiles were also fierce. So all visitors rarely swam or even washed their hand here, however; the crocodiles have become gentle since the King Norodom Sihanouk visited and stirred this water. Some people call this place Vong Tadaok because a veteran name Tadaok lived and died here.
