History of Koh Kong Knong Village, Trapeang Roung Eco Tourism site, Koh Kong district, Koh Kong province

(Written by Ty Theavy, edited by Alex Dedman and Christopher Copeman)
This village, Koh Kong Knong has not many dwellers living here. It is an illegal village in the protected forest area. So this village does not appear on the map. The forest conservationists of Wildlife Alliance tried to relocate the villagers to a legal site, but the villagers cannot leave here because they think that this place is easier to make a living by fishing, hunting and collecting the non timber forest products. Presently, this location of the village is now listed as the acceptable village of Trapeang Roung commune. The people say: this village was founded ages ago. In 1979 there were 10 families, but now there are 85 households that earn a living mostly by fishing.
