History of Veal Veng (Long field),Trapeang Roung Eco Tourism site, Koh Kong district, Koh Kong province

Written by Ty Theavy, edited by Jesica Hemsen from Holand)
This field is a grass lawn but only in the rainy season. In the dry season the grass is burned by local people. This field is a place for wild animals to forage during the day. It is also the place where hunters hide to shoot the animals. Before, the villagers sold the land because it has a high price on the market. This place is located in a protected area and no one can use this land. This field is 6 Kilometers from downtown Veal Taphou. This place is called Veal Veng by local people that means; in English, that the field is long. It is about 2 Kilometers long and 2 Kilometers wide. This field is longer than the other fields that the research team from CBET has found. The only plants that grow here are the Jambolifera and Dipterocarpus obtusifolius trees. The researcher used to camp here. They say that this place is rich of wild frogs after raining.
