History of Cicada ,Trapeang Roung Eco Tourism site, Koh Kong district, Koh Kong province

(Writing by Ty Theavy)
Do you hear that sound? This sound is from the Cicada.  There are cicadas living here. They make these sounds during the day, but not at night. Cicada is an insect living in the trees. It called in Khmer language is”Rey”. There are two kinds of Cicada. It makes a loudly tumultuous sound.  It eats leaves for food. It is the insect that told in Cambodian tale. The legend said:
An ant thinks that the upcoming rainy season will rain overflowed every day caused them hard to look for food. So in the dry season, ants collected food to poise for the rainy season, while cicadas didn’t do the same as the ants, but they could only sing happily day by day. Then the rainy season came, the rainfalls were cats and dogs. Water flooded everywhere caused cicadas couldn’t seek enough food. At that time the cicadas went to ask for the ants ‘food. When the ants didn’t supply the cicadas, cicadas were very angry with the ants. The cicada represents a person who cares nothing. The sound you hear is when they are singing and careless to find food.
