This place is regarded as a market under the
bridge. In Khmer, Spean means bridge and Phsa means market. Sellers gather here
to sell things like vegetables, coffee, wine, and snacks for wine drinkers,
Khmer noodles and local breakfast food such as Khmer porridge and coffee.
This place is good for local people to take a
rest from their farming. They like to gather here to drink and chat, and
sometimes to play Dominoes.
Before the bridge was constructed there was a
harbor for 2 ferries to take passengers across the river. At that time
there were a lot of sellers here. After the bridge was opened, most of the
sellers moved their shops to the national road. Now the majority of them have
opened restaurants. Some people who do not have any land still sell here.
Here is the meeting place for the local youth at
noon, as well as the meeting place for elders in the late evening.
